Our Mission & Vision
The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) is an American institution that informs and shapes public opinion and policy by serving as a trusted resource to decision makers in government, media, and policy institutions. It is also committed to developing leaders with the purpose of enhancing the political and civic participation of American Muslims. The Western New York organization, MPAC-WNY, is MPAC’s flagship chapter on the east coast and its first chapter in New York State.
We aim to establish a vibrant Muslim American community that will enrich American society through promoting the Islamic values of Mercy (21:107), Justice (4:135), Peace (8:61), Human Dignity (17:70), Freedom (2:256), and Equality for all (49:13).
“And thus O Prophet, we have sent thee as (an evidence of Our) grace towards all the worlds” (Qur’an 21:107).
“O you who have attained to faith! Be ever steadfast in upholding equity, bearing witness to the truth for the sake of God, even though it be against your own selves or your parents and kinsfolk. Whether the person concerned be rich or poor, God’s claim takes precedence over (the claims of) either of them. Do not, then, follow your own desire, lest you swerve from justice: for if you distort (the truth), behold, God is indeed aware of all that you do!” (Qur’an 4:135).
“But if they incline to peace, incline thou to it as well, and place thy trust in God: verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing!” (Qur’an 8:61).
“Now, indeed, We have conferred dignity on all the children of Adam, and born them over land and sea, and provided for them sustenance out of the good things of life, and favored them far above most of Our creation” (Qur’an 17:70).
“There shall be no coercion in matters of faith. Distinct has now become the right way from (the way of) error: hence, he who rejects the powers of evil and believes in God has indeed taken hold of a support most unfailing, which shall never give way: for God is all-hearing, all-knowing” (Qur’an 2:256).
“O men! Behold, We have created you all out of a male and a female, and have made you into nations and tribes, so that you may come to know one another. Verily, the noblest of you in the sight of God is the one who is most deeply conscious of Him. Behold, God is all-knowing, all-aware” (Qur’an 49:13).
